The Yorkshire Regiment
The Yorkshire regiment was formed in 2006 from the amalgamation of The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire, The Green Howards and The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment. It continues 300 years of tradition and ties with its county.
The Yorkshire Regiment collections at YAM are drawn from its antecedents in the Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire, The East Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of York’s Own) and the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own).
Collections are incredibly varied and include 5 Victoria Crosses, upwards of 3500 other medals, firearms, swords, uniform and personal items of our soldiers. The collections allow us to share incredible stories of hardship, humanity and comradery, that define the history of the Yorkshire Regiment.
